WEST MIDLANDS FOCUS PROJECT
Are you a university student in the West Midlands area? We need YOU!
We have been lucky enough to secure funding from the Inclusive Communities Fund and with this we are excited to move forward with a focused push in the West Midlands.
We have teamed up with West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network, West Midlands Police and West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership to collaboratively raise awareness of abuse, exploitation and human trafficking within the university student community and we want all of our Student Ambassadors in this area to get involved!

Student Challenges
You will be supported and guided to design and deliver a series of projects and events to help raise awareness to help protect yourself, your friends and family and your local community from abuse and exploitation. Below are just some of the ideas you can do!
EDUCATE OTHERS
- Research and write your own blog or article
- Design and display educational materials around campus
- Produce a presentation and present to your course peers
- Invite speakers to campus and host an expert panel discussion

FUNDRAISE
- Take on an endurance challenge and raise money through sponsorships
- Hold a quiz night and invite teams to pitch in money to participate
- Arrange and deliver an awareness campaign during your uni Varsity event to reach your entire student community

CREATE CHANGE
- Review your university’s Modern Slavery Statement
- Collaborate with your university leadership to produce formal guidelines around ‘sex for rent’
- Ensure student societies are pledged and committed to tackling modern slavery

West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network

The West Midlands Anti Slavery Network brings together partner organisations to combat modern slavery, human trafficking, and exploitation. Through direct victim support, identifying gaps, influencing change, and facilitating solutions, they strive to protect and advocate for the vulnerable in our community.
FUNDRAISE
The West Midlands Modern Slavery Prevention Hub is a collation of information and resources for students, staff and universities to help create slavery-free campuses across the West Midlands.
The Hub is produced by It’s a Penalty in partnership with the West Midlands Anti Slavery Network, with support from Health Education England, as an output of the West Midlands Slavery Free Campus Alliance (WMSFCA).
