Get help & learn how to report
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER, call your local emergency number
For non-emergencies, including seeking advice regarding suspected human trafficking cases, contact a local human trafficking organisation. Details of reporting hotlines available in all countries worldwide can be found in the interactive map below.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE – HOW TO REPORT
- Assess the situation for safety. Your safety and the safety of potential victims come first. Avoid confronting traffickers, as this could make the situation more dangerous.
- Gather information about what happened and who may need help. Take Notes – If you notice something concerning, write down details like descriptions, behaviors, locations, and times.
- Discreet and Anonymous Reporting – When calling a support organisation, most reports can be made anonymously, confidentially and discreetly. Your identity does not have to be disclosed, ensuring your privacy and protection.
IF YOU KNOW THE INDIVIDUAL BEING EXPLOITED…
Encourage them to seek help, such as calling a hotline. However, be mindful that they may not be ready or willing to take that step. The individual may suspect that their internet use or emails are being monitored, so may be fearful to reach out for support. Respect their decision and consider using a different approach.

*Not all indicators listed above are present in every human trafficking situation, and the presence or absence of any of the indicators is not necessarily proof of human trafficking. For a fuller list of indicators, go to itsapenalty.org/KnowTheSigns
