That’s why It’s a Penalty harnesses the power of sport to prevent the abuse, exploitation and trafficking of children globally, positioning major sporting events as platforms for positive change.

WE ARE PREVENTING A GLOBAL PROBLEM
The future of the world lies in the hands of today’s children.
Yet, each year, over 2 million children are exploited into the global sex trade (UNICEF).
Along with this, human trafficking involves 1.2 million children each year (UNICEF).
Worldwide, almost 20% of trafficking victims are children (UNODC).
In addition, the massive influx of visitors whilst a sporting event is taking place greatly exacerbates the risk for vulnerable children, as research clearly shows that the demand for children and women in the sex trade when a global sporting event is taking place increases (University of Dundee, 2014).
HOW WE CREATE CHANGE: PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!
We are inviting the world to understand how children are abused, exploited and trafficked and help fight these forms of violence against children. We believe we all have a part to play in building a safer world for children.
It’s a Penalty help prevent these crimes by:
EDUCATING the public about the global issues of child abuse, exploitation and trafficking, including the penalties for offenders;
ENCOURAGING everyone that ‘IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING’;
EQUIPPING people with the mechanisms to both identity and report these crimes globally.
It all starts by changing the attitudes and behaviors of one person at a time. But if we come together we can create change much faster.

On January 17 th , 2018, the It’s a Penalty informative campaign– featuring Usain Bolt, Rashad Jennings, Cathy Freeman, Maro Itoje, Liam Malone and Jerome Flynn – will be launched worldwide. Please share this film on your social media platforms.
The informative campaign film will be shown in-flight by the following AIRLINES from
February to April: American Airlines, British Airways, TAM, Ethiopian, Virgin Australia, Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon. If you are flying at any of these airlines during this period, please watch the film -take a picture and post on social media with #ITSAPENALTY.
